Hi everyone,
My friend John Coonrod at The Hunger Project is circulating this
survey on participatory local democracy, which I think is an interest/expertise
of many who read this blog. John and I would like to have water and sanitation
civil society groups well-represented in this survey.
Here is a bit more (and please do circulate to others in your
networks as appropriate):
Our
key milestone is to collate and publish country
rankings of participatory local democracy, and present our
first annual report in September. To do this we need your help! Please invite
everyone interested in this issue to fill out our 15-minute survey here, in either English, Spanish, or French.
Announcing the new Participatory Democracy Index
Responsive local governance is key to meeting human needs, yet it
is not a high global priority. To raise the profile of this issue, The Hunger
Project (THP) and UN Democracy Fund have launched a two-year initiative to
compile a multidimensional Participatory Democracy Index, and publish an annual
State of Participatory Democracy Report. The index has two components: legal
provisions for local governance, and perceptions on implementation. THP requests
that you support this effort by taking the 15-minute online survey at http://localdemocracy.net/the-scorecard/.
Many thanks for carving out a few minutes of your time to either
participate in this survey or send it to the right folks across the globe.
All the best,
John
